My name is Grace Mathiesen and I have taught 5th grade at Glendale Elementary since 2016. Having lived most of my life in Los Angeles County, it was a privilege moving to this wonderful community in the mountains. I am grateful every morning to wake up and look out the windows at he tree covered mountains that surround us, such amazing beauty. I very much enjoy the students that I have been entrusted to teach. It is wonderful watching how 5th grade students mature and change as the school year progresses. I love learning and try to instill the same love of learning in my students.

Hi,

I work as an IA and in the library at the elementary and am lucky to be able to go to work each day to work with the children and youth of our community. I am a wife and a biological mother of two wonderful children but feel blessed to be “the mother of many” over the years and a grandmother of one beautiful, energetic smart sponge of a girl.

April Hudgeon
Special Education Teacher
Hello, I am excited to be part of the Glendale Pirates team this year, as the new Special Education teacher. It has been a privilege to work in education for the past 14 years with experience in early intervention, K-12 and speech and language. I was born in southern California but raised in the small town of Canyonville. I have 4 children and an amazing husband of 25 years. I stay active with my family cherishing those moments full of extra-curricular activities such as soccer, dance and scouts. We love to go hiking and enjoy our Oregon Ducks athletics. Celebrating the little steps our kids make each day is why I love the world of education. In the words of Walt Disney “Our greatest national resource is the minds of our children.”
