To the Families of Glendale School District,

What a year!  We appreciate your patience and perseverance!  We truly look forward to the start of the 2020-2021 school year in August.  We miss the kids!

First, let me acknowledge that we do not have all the information for what next school year looks like. The Oregon Department of Education (O.D.E.) will have updates on the following dates to provide us with further guidance: 6/30, 7/21 and 8/11.  We do know we have three scenarios: start school as normal, have a hybrid model (students go to school on 1-2 days and have Distance Learning 1-2 days) or a complete Distance Learning platform.  We believe Glendale will be able to have either a hybrid model or school will start.  It depends on how the pandemic is progressing.  We are planning for all three, and as we get closer to the start of school in August we will be able to address the needed requirements and regulations provided to us to choose the best path for Glendale.   We are committed to providing a safe environment for our students.

Your feedback is important.  We have a survey that we would love for you to complete.   This is from our county ESD and will allow us to include your voice in the start of school this fall.  You can find it on the Glendale School District web page,, and our Facebook pages.  We appreciate your thoughts.  This feedback will help guide our decision making progress for students’ return and be included in our planning process.

By August 15th, Glendale School District will submit a plan to O.D.E. for the start of the 2020 -2021 school year.  We will share this plan with you and look forward to meeting all requirements from the Oregon Health Authority and the Douglas County Public Health Department, along with your concerns.   Our top priority continues to be ensuring the health and safety of our students, staff and community.

Our Summer Food program will resume on July 6th.  We will provide meals at Glendale Elementary, and deliver meals to three locations: Azalea Store, Quines Creek Gas Station and at the Cow Creek Station, now S & J Café, (formerly Bob and Sheila’s).  More information will be sent out when this program starts.  We will not have a summer school program at Glendale Elementary this year.

With the bond passage we are busy getting quotes looking to improve security, safety and efficiency in many areas.  Thank you again for placing your trust in us to provide the best environment possible for our students.  We are excited for the changes and look to keep everyone updated on our progress!

School registration will be planned once we have more knowledge on what the start of the 2020-2021 school year will look like; looking at the weeks of August 10th or 17th for this to happen.  We will also get information about our Sports Programs when we have additional guidance.  Did I mention we miss you all!
