Dear Glendale Families,
We understand that this is a difficult time for our students and their families. Our top priority right now remains the safety and health of our students and staff. We are also working closely with the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) as we work to support our graduating seniors, for our students return to school, and to provide continuity of learning to the fullest extent possible. We continue to look for additional guidance from ODE on how to equitably deliver instruction to all students during this extended closure.
As you have been made aware, due to the COVID-19 public health concerns, Governor Brown recently announced an extension of Oregon’s statewide school closure through April 28, 2020. Governor Brown’s Executive Order directs schools across the State of Oregon to:
Remain closed through Tuesday, April 28, 2020.
Deliver supplemental education and learning supports to students, to the extent practical, through independent study and other appropriate options.
Provide meals for students during this closure.
Provide for supplemental services and emergency management services, including but not limited to, the provision of child care for first responders, emergency workers, health care professionals, and other individuals, consistent with any guidance and requirements provided by the Oregon Department of Education.
As we work through this difficult situation, please know that:
We will continue to provide grab-and-go meals for all children under 18 during the extended closure.
Our facilities will remain closed to students during the extended closure.
Our goal is to deliver supplemental education and learning supports to students to the extent practical through independent study and other appropriate options by April 1st.
Our custodians will deep clean all surfaces in our schools, closing off rooms when complete, to ensure they remain disinfected for when students and staff return.
While our students are away from school, please help them understand the importance of this national health emergency by encouraging social distancing, good hand-washing skills, avoiding people who are sick, and covering their coughs and sneezes. Gatherings of more than 10 people are not recommended by the U.S. government at this time.
